An airport in central India has installed sensors to ensure passengers stay a safe distance from each other while queuing.

The system has been put in place by authorities at the Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport in Indore. A machine sounds an alarm if someone doesn't observe the required distancing at the airport.

Video filmed on June 25 shows three people standing at a distance from each other on marked spots. As one of them moves from the designated spot, the alarm starts to ring, notifying the breach. It gets restored as soon as the person returns back to the spot.

Early on in the coronavirus pandemic, Indian Prime Minister implored everyone: “Do Gaj ki Doori (a distance of two yards). We have to keep spreading this message and should be a life lesson for all.”

To ensure social distancing between travellers is maintained, an airport in central India's Madhya Pradesh has installed a machine with artificial intelligence-based sensors, to catch defaulters.

The aforementioned system has been implemented by authorities at the Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport in Indore.

The machine sounds an alarm if someone doesn't follow the required distancing at the airport.

It also gives messages in both Hindi and English languages like "Door Rahiye, Surakshit Rahiye and Keep Distance, Stay Safe".

The airport authority said that this machine is being used at the departure gate of the airport on an experimental basis as people stand in a queue there before entering the main terminal building.
