Silver Gulls (Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae) are the most common species of Australian gull. Silver Gulls are found with other types of seabirds, particularly terns, in the marine reserve at Point Quobba, north of Carnarvon in Western Australia. They are extremely adaptable, often frequenting landfill sites and public areas to scavenge and steal food. This Silver Gull landed on the hood of our vehicle as we sat inside eating lunch, hoping to be thrown some food. It is rare to get such a close view of such a handsome bird!
