This female Australasian Darter (Anhinga novaehollandiae) had caught a fish by spearing it with its beak and brought it to shore to swallow it. As she struggled to free the fish and turn its head so she could swallow it she dropped it, only to have a thieving Silver Gull steal it. She lunged at the Gulls in frustration, then tried unsuccessfully to get rid of some weed that was stuck on her beak. She then entered the estuary and caught another fish, only to drop and lose that one in the murky waters of Peel Inlet in Western Australia.
