A family had to scoop water out of their car while driving through flooded roads in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The city was hit with continuous days of heavy rain leaving the streets submerged by the deluge of muddy water.

Footage from the capital shows a family travelling through the floodwaters on October 15.

The weather was so severe that they had to use mugs to scoop the water out of their vehicle.

Cambodia has been hit by severe flash floods killing at least 11 people so far this month after seasonal rains was made worse by tropical storms.

More than 10,000 people had to be evacuated from the country's 19 out of 25 provinces, affecting 140,000 people in all.

The floods also submerged homes and destroyed hundreds of acres of rice crops that were supposed to be harvested in the next few weeks.

The heavy rains are expected to last in the next few days while two more tropical storms are expected to hit the country in the coming weeks.
