Hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets of Minsk on Friday (November 13th) night after a protester died following what demonstrators say was a severe beating by security forces.

Roman Bondarenko, 31, was detained on Wednesday (November 11th) evening after scuffling with people in plain-clothes who had come to a playground to remove ribbons representing the protest movement against President Alexander Lukashenko, according to witnesses.

For the second day in a row, a decent number of Belarusians in Minsk gather on the "Square of changes" to pay tribute to the murdered civilian who died on November 12.
Raman Bandarenka, a 31-year-old artist and resident of Belarus’ capital Minsk, died in hospital on the evening of 12 November. According to media reports, unidentified masked men came to his neighborhood to remove protest flags and ribbons. They beat him after a verbal confrontation. Police then took him away in a van.

Several hours later, Raman Bandarenka was transferred unconscious to hospital with head injuries and a collapsed lung. Surgeons were unable to save him.
