Coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are bracing for Cyclone Nivar, which has intensified into a "severe cyclonic storm", expected to intensify further and is barrelling towards the southeast coast. The powerful cyclone is likely to hit the coast by midnight or early tomorrow.
Incessant heavy rainfall lashed several areas in and around Chennai as the severe cyclonic storm Nivar approached closer to the coast on Wednesday. The city has received the highest amount of rainfall as of now. Many trees in the city have been uprooted.
In Ice house area of Triplicane Chennai a tree was about to get uprooted and it fell on the old man who was walking on the road near to the tree. Unfortunately it fell right on his head and this spine chilling moment was captured on CCTV camera that was kept in the nearby house.
