This was the heartrending moment a grieving monkey tried to revive a dead woodcutter in a forest.

Radheshyam had gone to cut trees, with a few of his friends, at a forest in Bengabad in northern India.

A tree fell on him accidentally and he was killed instantly. As his fellow workers laid him on ground weeping over his death, an Indian langur monkey sat on a tree witnessing the incident silently.

It got down the tree and went to Radheshyam, prodding him to wake up. It sat near his head, visibly grieving till he was taken to a hospital for autopsy.

A forest officer said: “It was Radheshyam’s first day at work and the monkey did not know him at all. It was still compassionate enough to mourn the tragedy.”
