Bushbuck calf goes hopping and skipping about safari park

The Bushbuck (Tragelaphus sylvaticus) is a beautiful, sheep-sized antelope that is widespread in Sub-Saharan Africa. Bushbucks prefer dense cover and are most often found on forest edges or near rivers and streams. They are mostly solitary, although females are accompanied by their calves after they are about four months old. Only male Bushbucks have horns, and adults mostly browse the leaves of shrubs, and also take some fruits, tubers and fungi. This Bushbuck ewe and her calf regularly visited the Timbavati Picnic Spot in Kruger National Park and were quite calm around people. Her calf was full of mischief and energy, first chasing a Red-winged Starling and then running and jumping around the perimeter of the picnic area. After several minutes of these hijinks the calf calmed down, scratching an itch with its foot
