STORYLINE:

Three months after the death of Diego Maradona, the circumstances that led to the death of the idol due to a cardiorespiratory arrest at age 60 are still the subject of a judicial investigation in Argentina that is targeting the medical staff who treated him at home.

Meanwhile, the tributes to his figure continue.

Visual artist Gonzalo López Lauch, from a group called Comando Maradona, unveiled on Thursday a colorful mural of the legendary Argentine player, who died on November 25 last year, sparking a torrent of pain from Buenos Aires to Naples, Italy.

The work, located in front of the Argentinos Juniors stadium where Maradona played the first years of his career, is part of a series of mosaics that the group has made during the last three months, to honor the day of his death.

"We are transforming our pain into a mural in a public space," said López Lauch, who is part of the group with Paula Soto and Gabriela Pereyra.

The mosaics, made up of small tiles to make them durable and easy to fix in case of vandalism, show Maradona in a jersey of one of the teams he played for, looking at the horizon.

"Maradona is an example of Argentina, a footprint of our nation, part of our DNA, part of our blood," said López Lauch.

Maradona, world champion with Argentina's national team at the 1986 World Cup, died in November after battling illness and his addiction to drugs and alcohol.
