A beautiful fire rainbow cloud appeared over Bohol province, the Philippines on Februaary 28.

The cloud, known scientifically as a circumhorizontal arc, had a bright multicoloured silhouette that appeared to be hiding behind darker clouds.

Wenceslee Julz, who lived in the village where the stunning phenomenon formed in the sky, said it was the first time that they saw the unusual cloud.

He said: ‘It was such a beautiful sight, I grabbed my phone to record and showed it to my friends. It was the first time I saw it.’

Rainbow clouds are formed when sudden condensation in rising clouds forms small water droplets or ice crystals. The sunlight is then reflected through the ice crystals to give the rainbow effect.
