Officers pull driver from burning car that crashed into utility pole
This is the heroic moment officers pulled a driver from a burning car after it crashed into a utility pole.
Emergency responders from the Bristol Connecticut Police Department were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on Washington Street near Garden Street on December 4 at around 3:52 am.
When they arrived, Officers Coby Vaccarelli and Robert Baek found the road blocked by a downed power pole and spotted a vehicle resting on its side farther down the lane.
Footage shows authorities moving quickly towards the overturned car, discovering the driver still trapped inside as flames burned in the engine compartment.
They began breaking the windscreen to reach the motorist. Once the opening was large enough, Officer Vaccarelli warned the driver that the vehicle was on fire and she needed to get out.
The rescuers then pulled her through the windscreen opening and carried her to safety while Bristol fire crews worked to contain the flames and secure the scene.
The driver was later assessed by Bristol EMS and was found not to have sustained any serious injuries.
Bristol Police reminded motorists to obey traffic laws, observe speed limits, and never text while driving, especially during the holiday season, when roads are busier, and the risk of accidents increases.
