A brave kayaker chased after a crocodile after spotting it had his friend's foam block in its mouth.

Paul Teasdale slowly floats towards the croc which has a large foam foot block in its jaws.

The reptile begins frantically swishing around near Victoria Falls and eventually the foam block floats to the surface.

Teasdale said: "While canoeing the Zambezi River, a British friend of mine lost my foam foot block. Unfortunately, we found a crocodile holding it in his mouth. Everyone thought that I had lost my foam block for good.

"People had no idea that I work a lot with reptile conservation and frequently rescue and relocate snakes, as well as, monitor lizards and crocodiles of all shapes and sizes. So, I knew exactly what I needed to do.

"I am a conservationist and would not have been able to forgive myself if the crocodile had swallowed my rubbish and been harmed as a result."

Owing to his experience working with several reptile conservation foundations, Paul Teasdale had no doubt in his mind that he would be able to retrieve his item from the grasp of a raging crocodile.

Paul also noted how retrieving the block was not about satisfying his ego. He told us: "I am a conservationist and would not have been able to forgive myself if the crocodile had swallowed my rubbish and been harmed as a result."

In the end, the filmer was able to get his foam foot block back and he assured everyone that the croc wasn’t hurt and no actual physical contact was made. Gently slapping the water surface was all that was required.
