A kind passer-by saved a drowning kitten he saw drifting in a river.

Norlan Compasivo was walking to his office from the car park when he noticed the moggie in distress in Pasay City in Manila, the Philippines on February 18.

He looked for a long stick to reach the cat with and found a bamboo pole which he used to pull the animal out of the dirty water.

The stray cat was saved and ran away from the man after it had dried itself up.

Norlan said: ‘I thought he was dead. I was glad because I saved that cat even though I was a little late for work that day.’
