Cyclone Yaas crosses Odisha Coast, India

Cyclone Yaas whipped through Odisha's Balasore with wind speed up to 155kmph. Rough sea conditions prevailed and there was heavy rainfall. Mud houses were inundated and domestic animals were seen being washed off as the seawater covered large swathes of cultivable land in Balasore. Several big trees uprooted in Odisha’s Dhamra and the area received over 100 mm of rainfall.
Over a million people evacuated ahead of the cyclone yaas and moved to the government shelter homes. This is the second cyclone to hit the country in a week after Cyclone Tauktae killed more than 150 people.
