Park goers were shocked when a king cobra was seen devouring a whole python in Singapore.

Jimmy Wong overheard from park staff that a cobra was spotted in the area so he went looking for the creature inside Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve on June 22.

The curious visitor immediately found the 4ft-long reptile slithering among the plants and followed it until he saw a dead python that was about the same size as the cobra.

Soon after, the man was shocked when the cobra opened its mouth widely and began swallowing the python starting from its head.

He said: ‘I was so shocked because the python was the same size as the cobra. I met two photographers nearby who told me that the two snakes fought.

‘The cobra bit the python and left it to die from the venom. It then returned when the python was dead from the bite and started to eat it for dinner.’

The park goer added that the cobra took 45 minutes slowly swallowing the python from head to the tail due to its meal’s size.

He said: ‘It was such an incredible experience. I guess the cobra would be feeling full for a while and not hunt in the area.’
