A dramatic rockfall near Dharchula, India closed an important route to the Chinese border on Friday 6 August.

The continuous landslide on the Tawaghat-Lipulekh road in Pithoragarh District halted transport connecting Dharchula to the border.

As rocks are still falling in the area, it has not yet been possible to clear the road and repair it, causing major problems for local residents and traders alike.

According to locals, that work will begin when the land above is stable again.

Due to continuous landslide a road has been blocked and transportation of vehicles stopped connecting Dharchula Headquarter to China border on 6th August in Pithoragarh District .
There was continuous landslide at Tawaghat - Lipulekh road which blocks the road . Due to continuous landslide BRO is not able to work on the restoration , because of this locals and other people travelling to other end are facing problems .
According to locals work of restoration will tart once landslide is fully stopped .
