A gripping first-person video filmed by a motorcyclist on the A115 highway in Ermont, France, shows swirling dark clouds, flying debris, and terrified drivers as an EF1 tornado with gusts up to 160 km/h struck on October 20, 2025.
According to Keraunos observatory, the rare autumn vortex formed amid highly unstable atmospheric conditions, killing a 23-year-old construction worker when a crane collapsed and injuring nine others.
The storm ripped through 11 communes in Val-d'Oise, tearing off roofs, downing 1,500 power lines, and suspending RER C and Line H train services until the following afternoon—marking France’s deadliest tornado since 2008.
