Footage shows a nerve-wracking motorcycle ride along a dangerous canal pathway – with snakes and lizards in the water below.

A pillion passenger recorded the journey while they were being carried along the narrow concrete platform in the On Nut area of Bangkok, Thailand, on August 22.

The winding walkway – parts of it crumbling from years of erosion – is on concrete stilts which were sank into the dirty waterway.

Despite the dangers – including stray objects and gaps in the concrete – dozens of motorcycle riders take the shortcut every day to avoid traffic on the main roads.

Passenger Noom Saetang said: ‘The path is about a metre wide so there is a not a lot of room. The motorcycle rider has to be experienced and have good balance.

‘I was a little bit nervous when I looked down and saw the water below. I would not want to fall into the canal as there are snakes and monitor lizards there and the water is dirty.’
