A woman was walking near the edge of the harbour wall at Boscastle in Cornwall the picturesque fishing village is popular with holiday makers and is a beautiful place to visit.

However the coastguard helicopter from Newquay was called to airlift the young girl after she fell 20 feet into the mud below, the tide was out meaning the harbour was dry and made the fall even more serious

She suffered minor injuries but due to the height and risk of spinal injury land based emergency services requested the helicopter to make moving the causality safer than trying to get her back up onto the wall and a bumpy ride back to the nearest hospital in Truro some 40 miles away.

This highlights the importance of being extra careful around harbour walls and enjoying the Cornish coast with extra care while on holiday, the coastguard play vital roles and are always in high demand when holiday makers find themselves in trouble while exploring all Cornwall has to offer while not being prepared for the changing conditions.
