A woman armed with only a walking stick managed to fight off a wild leopard that attacked her in Mumbai on Wednesday (September 29).

Remarkable security camera footage shows 55-year-old Nirmaladevi Singh wandering onto a terrace outside her home completely unaware that the big cat is metres away waiting to pounce.

Singh sits down on a low wall, still oblivious to the feline intruder, and the leopard attacks.

Despite being knocked onto her back, she manages to hit the leopard with her stick several times until it retreats.

Singh suffered scratches and was admitted to a local hospital for treatment.

A CCTV camera captured the incident on September 29 as a 55-year-old woman was attacked by a leopard outside her home.

Nirmaladevi Singh managed to quickly grab her walking stick and began beating the big cat until it retreated.

She suffered scratches to her face, elbow, arm, back and leg. Singh was admitted to hospital for treatment.
