Dramatic CCTV footage has emerged from China of a car crashing into a river after accidently speeding off an unfinished road.

In the footage, captured on a security camera in Guangdong Province earlier this month, the car can be seen heading straight for the river before disappearing with a huge splash.

According to local news reports, the driver and a passenger escaped by climbing out of the car and did not suffer any serious injuries.

Apparently warning blocks had been removed by local residents to make their journeys easier.
