A bus as evidence of a series of accidents caught fire when parked on the road side in front of the traffic accident unit police station in Indonesia.

Footage filmed around the Bukittinggi police headquarters, West Sumatra province on Tuesday night, November 16, shows flames engulfing the entire material of the bus, while black smoke billows into the air.

The head of the Bukittinggi Resort Police Traffic Unit, Adjunct Police Commissioner (AKP) Ghanda Novidingrat, said the 'Putra Inhil' bus that caught fire was evidence of a series of accidents on October 20 last month.

When the fire broke out the bus was engine off and had not been started for almost a month, the bus doors were locked and the windows were tightly shut.

"The chronology is that there were witnesses who saw smoke coming out of the bus. When approached, the fire had spread to the entire Putra Inhil bus. The cause will be investigated by the identification unit of the criminal investigation unit," AKP Novidiningrat said.

Six fire engines were dispatched to the scene to extinguish the fire.

The fire was extinguished after half an hour of extinguishing efforts.
