Instagram or instant discount? British pub offers half-price meals to diners that lock away their phone
The Silent Woman Pub in Dorset, southwest England has devised a 50% discount scheme for customers on its food bills only if they agree to lock their phones away for the meal!
This is in an effort to get customers socialising in the pub rather than on their social media.
The inn has launched the 'Lock Box' scheme for Christmas. However, if it works well then it could well continue into the New Year too.
The 17th century pub that has a mention in one of Thomas Hardy’s novels and is located in Wareham Forest, just outside the town of Wareham.
Its owner is hoping that diners will get chatting rather than snapping as they eat.
His aim is to get the customers to appreciate the whole experience without the phone taking over the event.
