Filipino local uses rope and laundry basket to save cat stuck on ledge
A kind animal lover rescued a cat that was missing for five days stuck in a crevice on a high ledge in the Philippines.
Debie Rose Mendizabal used a makeshift pulley made out of a laundry basket and some rope to pull the moggie to safety in Oriental Mindoro province.
The rescue took more than 15 minutes as the cat was hesitant and had to be prodded using long sticks to coax it into the basket. It finally rode the pulley after being hosed down with water.
After being fed and taking some vitamins, the happy moggie was seen making itself comfortable in Debie's home, sprawling itself out on the tiled floor. It reportedly belonged to her neighbour and had been missing for five days.
Debie said: "I was so tired. We had been trying to rescue it since the day before. 'I almost ran out of patience, so it's a good thing we thought of using the water hose."
