An art teacher painted a giant 6000sqm Beijing Olympics logo on a frozen river in northeastern China.

Dou Heng, a primary school art teacher, created the sprawling mural as a tribute to the Beijing Winter Olympics being held in China this February.

Drone footage captured on January 10 shows Dou Heng carefully clearing out the white snow on the surface of the Tuanjie Reservoir in Jilin province to form the Olympic emblem’s pattern. He then uses several cans of paint to colour in the empty spaces in the snow.

The impressive undertaking reportedly took four days to complete, and spans an area of about 6,000 square metres.

Dou Heng said: ‘I did it all by myself because I was afraid that it would be damaged if I had other people help me.

‘All my snow paintings are done by myself, and the area of each snow painting is very large.’
