A hurricane left damage to a religious venue in Indonesia.

Billboards, tents, tables, and chairs were seen knocked over at an open field in North Maluku province on February 20 where a Quran reciting competition was to be held.

Makian Island subdistrict head Ahmad Wahab said: 'The incident happened in the morning, around 5:30 am. Fortunately, there were no people around that time.'

No one was reported hurt in the incident but the event had to be moved to another location due to safety reasons.

Ahmad added: 'The competition event was moved to the school building. The tents and chairs that were swept away by the wind have been fixed.'
