Ukrainians and Georgians living in Thessaloniki in Greece, gathered on Sunday 27 February for a service for peace and those who have lost their lives in Ukraine's war.

The service was held at the historic Byzantine-era temple of Vlatades in Thessaloniki.

Among the faithful was a family from Ukraine that arrived in Greece a few hours before, as refugees.

Members of the consular authorities of Ukraine and Georgia were also present.

The attendees held flags of Ukraine and Georgia during the service.

The atmosphere inside the 14th Century church was emotional as the people of Ukraine and Georgia share a common history of conflict with Russia.
