Historic SS Richard Montgomery shipwreck, which sank 1.5 miles off Kent in 1944, captured on this year's lowest equinoctial spring tide (March 4) and fog off Kent, UK.

According to the UK's National Tidal and Sea Level Facility, the low tide height at Sheerness this morning was just 0.3 metres, making it the lowest 'equinoctial' Spring-season tide of 2022.

An 'equinoctial' spring tide occurs when the Sun is near equinox, characterised by greater-than-average ranges of the spring tide.

Unfortunately, fog partially obscured the view of the WW2 American liberty ship's three masts.

At most low tides, one of the life-raft racks attached to the ship's hull can be seen in addition to the three masts.

However, on ultra low-tides - like today's - a second life-raft rack fitted near the port stern can also just about be seen.

The UK Government plan to remove the three masts in June this year to reduce strain on the vessel.
