The UK Gov have delayed removing the masts from 'bomb ship' SS Richard Montgomery in Thames, which lies 1.5 miles north of Sheerness in Kent until next year.

Originally the masts were due to be cut off the UK's most dangerous shipwreck this year to reduce strain on the ageing vessel, which sank with 1400 tons of explosives still aboard in 1944.

The Gov hope to appoint contractors this September, and if successful for the work to be undertaken in 2022. A budget of up to £4 million has been allocated for the project.

Footage of the shipwreck today (July 21) at low tide.
