A resident of Kharkiv in Ukraine lay trapped on Friday (March 18) for five hours under the rubble of a residential building destroyed by Russian shelling before rescuers hauled him to safety.

Exclusive footage showed officers from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), escorting the bloodied man away from the scene in the Nemyshlyanskyi District of the city.

"The rocket landed and the building collapsed," said Vladislav, who did not give his last name, moments after the rescue with dried blood still clinging to his head and face.

"I waited a long time for the rescuers to find me. Thank you, they got me out of the rubble," he added.

Footage filmed today (March 19) showed the building from which Vladislav was rescued lying in ruins with SES workers clearing debris.
