This is the horrifying moment a pet owner found his missing pet Huskies mutilated and cut up into pieces - as builders ate them for DINNER.

Sing Bun Thol, 30, was searching for the three missing dogs around a neighbourhood in Kampot City, Cambodia, on March 11. They reportedly slipped out from a hole in his house's fence, and had wandered into a construction site nearby.

However, a gruesome sight greeted him during the search.

Harrowing footage shows the moment a distraught Sing Bun Thol found the mangled remains of his pets at the construction site right next to his home. The Huskies had been chopped up and were being eaten for dinner.

The stricken pet owner could only wail in anguish while embracing the severed, browned head of one of his Huskies, which had reportedly been butchered for their meat.

He also confronted the men, and was heard saying: 'My dogs have died. Why are all of you so brutal? What did my dogs do to you? Why did you attack my dogs?'

Authorities said nine workers were later arrested for killing the three beautiful pooches - a mother dog and her two puppies.

The warrant for the men came on March 13 after Sing Bun Thol's mother, 62-year-old Ly Thidin, claimed they attacked and stole her dogs to cook them near a construction site where they worked in Kampot province.

The workers were charged with 'stealing property and eliminating evidence' by eating the dogs which they reportedly cooked as appetizers and ate with wine.

Kampot Provincial Police chief Major General Mao Chanmathurith said: 'All nine suspects will be sent to court. They were charged with stealing property and eliminating evidence by eating the dogs.'

Speaking with local media, Sing Bun Thol said he pitied the workers because they had their own families to take care of, but he also wanted to catch and punish those who killed his beloved dogs.

He said: 'I don't want them to get in trouble because I understand they had families to take care of as well, but I still want them to be punished because they killed my dogs.'

The men were questioned and remanded in custody before being sent to court for a trial later this year.

Animal welfare charity Four Paw and Animal Rescue Cambodia said they welcomed the action taken by the Cambodian authorities.

They said: 'With the dog meat trade receiving more and more scrutiny, we hope to see further actions being taken in order to protect dogs – regardless of their breed – as well as other pets and illegally hunted wildlife.'

Officials believe up to three million dogs are killed each year for the dog meat trade in Cambodia
