Russia launched its attack of Ukraine in the early hours of 24 February. In Kyiv, Russia has been attempting to encircle the city for weeks now, but Ukrainian forces remain in control of large areas around the capital, especially in the south.

The video shows the square that would usually be busy and bustling being empty with exception to a small number of civilians filling and moving sand bags to protect monuments and buildings. The military also present checking drivers and thoroughly searching all vehicles entering and exiting the area. Streets are blocked with sandbags in addition to anti tank steel units. Sandbags also block most of the entry of the stairs leading to underground bunkers.
