A randy Buddhist monk was allegedly caught on CCTV stealing women’s underwear.

Chanakan Kamchan, 47, and her husband heard a sound coming from outside when they were relaxing in the living room of their home in Chachoengsao province, Thailand on March 24.

When she looked at the CCTV to check, Chanakan was shocked upon seeing somebody had entered her home. She rushed out but it was already too late as the intruder had already escaped from the parking lot.

Chanakan only realised what the monk had done when she went through the laundry hanging outside her house and found that three undergarments were missing.

The housewife said: 'I am not angry that a few hundred Baht underwear were stolen. I am worried for my daughter and other homes with children.'

Concerned for her daughter’s safety, she reported the incident to the police and submitted the CCTV footage as evidence. The man was later identified as Phra Kraison Techapanya.

The temple abbot informed the police that Phra Kraison had been staying at the temple for three months but did not share his phone number or any documents with them.

He added that the monk had already fled from the temple. Only luggage filled with sports shoes, clothes, and male and female underwear was left inside his room.

Police are investigating and are searching for the monk, who faces being disrobed from the religion and prosecuted for theft.

A police spokesman said: 'Officers will arrest the monk as soon as he is found. We are co-ordinating with the temple and when they know where he is, they will report him.'
