Out-of-control cement mixer truck rams house in Thailand
This is the shocking moment an out-of-control cement mixer truck rammed a house in Thailand.
The heavy vehicle was travelling to a construction site at a bridge in Loei province when its brakes reportedly failed when it was about to make a turn on April 29.
It crashed into a two-storey home and smashed through several rooms leaving the driver trapped under the rubble while the house owner had minor injuries from falling debris.
Rescuers arrived at the scene and carefully pulled the driver under the wreckage as the structure might collapse, while the owner of the house was given first aid treatment.
House owner Paweena Prasertpong, 68, said: ‘I was so shocked. I heard a loud bang like an explosion and the next thing I knew my house was hit by a truck.
‘Usually, I would hang out in front of the house but when the truck crashed I was outside. I was hit by flying rubble but I am fine. I’m just worried about my house, where would we live now.’
The driver, Ruangchai Thanyarak, 60, was injured from the impact of the crash and was buried under the nearly-collapsed home. He was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition.
An officer from the Dan Sai District police station said that the truck’s brakes may have failed but further investigations were needed.
He said: ‘Initial findings point to failed brakes but we would have to do further investigations.’
