Workers rescued a wild sparrow stuck inside a pillar in Myanmar.

The builders heard squeaking noise inside the metal pillar tube on a construction site in Yangon on June 4.

They looked closer and found the little bird stuck inside. They used a metal file and pliers to cut a small opening and free the bird.

One of the nature-loving workers said: ‘These pillars were opened at the top so the bird might have slipped inside and fell at the bottom.

‘It could also have to build a nest on the top. It's lucky we heard it. We would be checking the pillars regularly from now on.'

The bird swooped out of its rescuer's hand and flew away apparently unhurt.

Sparrows are small birds found in most parts of the world. They do not only serve as food for other birds and animals higher in the food chain, but they also spread seeds across different places which is vital in germination.
