Two birds hop along electricity cable in this fascinating mating dance
Two birds hopped along an electricity cable in this fascinating mating dance.
Footage shows the pair of Java sparrows jumping in a rhythmic pattern as seen by a resident in Zambales province, the Philippines on March 3.
The bigger bird hopped two times for every jump made by its smaller mate.
Onlooker Marion Jeff Ebalo said: 'I was about to leave the house for the market with my wife when we saw them. It was fascinating the way they were moving along the cable.'
Java sparrows are known for the male's elaborate solo courtship dance and for performing coordinated duet dances as a mated pair. The mated male and female face each other on a perch and try to mirror each other's movements.
