Hundreds of fake Premier League tops were seized in Thailand.

The English football shirts were part of the 20,000 pieces of counterfeit sports clothing items found during a raid in Ratchaburi province on June 9.

They included Man City, Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelse replica jerseys.

All the goods warehoused inside the two-room apartment had an estimated cost of 58 million baht (1.36 million GBP) as each piece was being sold online for 2,900 baht (68 GBP).

The identity of the owner remained unknown but police said they will identify them soon.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Chumphon Sukphakdi from the Ratchaburi provincial police station said: ‘Concerned residents reported this online page to us as they thought it was selling fake items. Their goods were very popular because they were cheaper than the original items.

‘However, these items did not pass through proper quality and safety regulation checks. We are now working on finding the owner of this page.'

The sportswear was reportedly being sold on a Facebook page.

Local government investigator Patthapong Chiangkasaem said: ‘I have been tracking this social media page for about a year now. They constantly move their warehouse to another place. This latest warehouse was the fourth location.'

All the counterfeit items were taken as evidence. The owners could face up to four years in prison and a fine of up to 400,000 baht (9,440 GBP).
