German tourist, 28, injured after falling into uncovered manhole in Thailand
A German tourist was left with cuts and bruises on his leg after falling into an uncovered manhole in Thailand.
Christoph Splisteser, 28, was walking back to his hotel after a night out when he stepped on a loose drain cover that flipped open in Pattaya.
Footage shows him receiving first aid from rescuers as his friend and Thai girls checked on his condition on October 21.
He later showed authorities the exact spot where he fell and demonstrated how it happened.
Passerby Kim Lertlumprasert said: 'The German man was walking along the pavement as usual when the cover suddenly gave way. He shouted, and then he was stuck, asking people to help him.'
Medics cleaned his injuries and offered to take him to a hospital, but he declined and chose to rest at his accommodation instead.
Residents have since urged local officials to inspect all manhole covers in the area to prevent future accidents.
