Residents hid inside bunkers as the Burmese military launched an air strike near the Thai border.

The terrified villagers were caught in the crossfire between Myanmar state forces and troops of the militant Karen National Union (KNU) who were fighting in the Phop Phra district of Thailand's Tak province on June 27.

The KNU reportedly blockaded an army base near the village, and the junta responded by bombing the area using fighter aircrafts.

The attack reportedly started on June 25 and are still ongoing, forcing locals to flee to neighbouring Thai towns seeking shelter.

Both sides reportedly suffered casualties, but the exact number is still unclear. Thailand said it has tightened security along its border with Myanmar.
