Tourists return to bars on Bangkok red-light strip as foreign arrivals surge

Footage shows tourists at bars in Bangkok, Thailand, today July 6 as holidaymakers began flocking back to the country.

Ministers said there had been a 10 per cent rise in visitor numbers since the Covid-19 entry restrictions were finally scrapped on July 1.

Deputy Government Spokesperson Traisulee Traisaranakul said the Suvarnabhumi International Airport received 140 flights and 27,642 passengers on July 1. It recorded 134 flights with 27,147 passengers on board on Saturday, July 2 and 150 flights with 28,910 passengers on Sunday, July 3.

Officials believe that daily foreign arrivals will soon surpass 30,000, with the figure set to double in October.
