A Burmese village was flooded by mountain run-off after heavy rain.

Footage shows the muddy deluge swamping Hannar village in Shan State's Lashio township on July 3. The water ruined locals' gardens and hampered transportation.

The flood has since receded, but townspeople in low-lying areas are still wary of currents flowing down from nearby mountains.

Myanmar and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November.

Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
