Motorist improvises DIY windscreen wiper after storm destroys old blades
A motorist built a DIY windscreen wiper after a storm broke the car's blades.
Footage shows the passenger rhythmically tugging at a wire connected to the wiper blades in front of the vehicle driving along the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway in the Philippines on July 7.
Another passenger, Marc Hermogeno, said they had to improvise after stormy gusts took the automated wipers out of commission while they were on the road.
He said: 'At first, we tried a piece of metal wire, but it didn't work. Luckily, we found some electric wire under the car seat which we tied to the wiper.'
Despite the seemingly unwieldy system, the manually operated wiper blades allowed them to drive safely out of the expressway in the middle of heavy rain.
