Ice cubes thrown into pond to keep fish cool during high temperatures in China
Ice cubes were thrown into a pond to cool down the water due to the high temperature in southern China.
Video filmed in the city of Yueyang in Hunan Province on August 6 shows three men throwing ice cubes into a fish pond.
According to reports, the fish pond owner Mr Pan bought 100 ice cubes and threw them into the pond to cool down the water as the water's temperature was over 45 degrees Celsius.
There were northern snakehead larvae in the pond and the high temperature would kill them. So Pan tried to use ice cubes to decrease the water's temperature.
The fish in the pond are all alive and healthy.
Yueyang Meteorological Observatory issued an orange warning signal (the second strongest level) for the high temperature. The highest temperature reached over 37 degrees Celsius in some areas.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
