'I'm a hairdresser and here are the top 5 things you SHOULDN'T do to your hair'
A hairdresser has shared the things she'd never do to her hair - including never washing it with supermarket shampoo and tying it up wet. Rachel Valentine, 27 - who has been cutting and colouring hair for 10 years - shared a video with a list of personal 'don'ts' when it comes to your locks. She said she never buys supermarket shampoo - instead using professional products - or ties her hair up when it's still wet. She said she also never brushes or detangles her hair with certain brushes, such as a paddlebrush, never not uses a heat protector and never shampoos her hair just the once. In the video - which has since racked up nearly 2 million views on TikTok - Rachel compares buying cheap shampoo to cheap toilet roll. The stylist recommends people don't brush their hair with a regular comb, instead suggests using a detangling brush. When it comes to tying up her hair, Rachel highly recommends avoiding it when it's wet as it can 'stretch' - particularly if the hair is bleached. Aware of the fact that not everyone can afford professional shampoo, Rachel says that doing just 'one or two' of her five nuggets of wisdom will improve your hair. Rachel, from Wimbledon, South London, said: "If you're on a budget and you cant afford professional shampoo, use a detangler, use heat protectors and you will see improvements," she said.
