This determined bride braved overcast skies and heavy rain, riding a carabao-drawn cart to the church on her wedding day in the Philippines.

Wearing her white bridal gown, Sabel Mora, 25, trekked through the muddy terrain of Penablanca town in Cagayan province to wed her Australian groom, Andrew Taylor, on August 8. She was riding a foliage-decorated 'kariton' - a wooden cart which local farmers in rural areas typically use to transport their crops.

Footage shows Sabel shielding herself with an umbrella as the carabao pulled her up to the Church of Christ chapel, where she was welcomed by relatives and wedding guests. Gleeful cheers erupted when the couple later exchanged their 'I do's' at the altar.

In an interview with local media, Sabel's husband, Andrew, an Australian national whom she met online three years ago, said: 'The reason we used a cart was because my wife is a princess, and all princesses travel in carts so I thought we'd get a carabao because that's the native animal around here.

He added that other vehicles would have had trouble climbing up the hill where the church was located since the slope was steep and slippery from the downpour.

A visibly happy Sabel said: 'It really warms my heart that even though it rained, I still received a blessing.'

Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Thailand are at the start of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until late November.

Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods which cause rivers to flow faster and become dangerous.
