Tree-like patterns form on dried up lake caused by heatwave in southern China
Tree-like patterns formed in a lake after a heatwave reduced water levels in southern China.
Video filmed in the city of Nanchang in Jiangxi Province on August 21 shows tree patterns appearing in Poyang lake as the temperature reached 38 degrees Celsius.
Due to the less rain and high temperature, Poyang Lake entered the drought period more than 100 days earlier than usual, creating a new record for the earliest to enter the drought period (the water level was below 10 metres).
The video was provided by local media with permission.
