Radio traffic from Police Car Stolen by Mentally unstable female, Shamokin, Northumberland County, Pa
A mentally unstable Shamokin woman has been charged with felony theft after taking a police car and using the radio.
Stormie Birster, 31, was remanded to Jail on $50 K cash bail by John Gembic District Justice Shamokin on Wednesday December 28, 2022.
Per Radio traffic and the Police report Ms. Birster broke into the cruiser and began using the police radio.
02:19 a.m. County Communications heard a female voice saying “Patrol one, can you hear me?” according to a criminal complaint.
County 911 officials responded, “yes,” police said.
The female said, "This is Stormie Birster and you need to check on my mother,” police said.
County officials then told Shamokin police that the radio transmission was coming from a police vehicle and they needed to check on the cruiser, according to police.
On Duty Officers began to search for the vehicle.
Radio communications confirmed they attempted to make contact with the woman and asked if she could hear him and a short conversation was had.
She made false statements on the radio claiming people were killed and needed to be checked on.
Police found Ms. Birster when she pulled in behind an officer in the area of the Cameron Bridge
Ms. Birster was taken into custody without incident and taken to the Shamokin Police Department.
