Race to save properties behind flood defences in Worcestershire, England as River Severn bursts its banks

Frantic efforts are being put into place to save properties in Bewdley, England from rising river levels.

Flood defences, holding back the swollen River Severn, have been erected in the Worcestershire town of Bewdley on Saturday 14 January where for the last 3-years the barriers have breached, flooding many properties.

This year extra concrete boulders have been brought in to foot the temporary barriers close to Beales Corner in an attempt to stop them from shifting under the pressure of the raging torrent of water.

Also affected by the rising water is the nearby town of Stourport on Severn where a life-size model of a dinosaur which is located in a mini golf course has been swamped by murky water.

A row of houses on the riverside are battling to keep the river away despite the water flowing past their garden walls.

River levels are expected to peak in the early hours of Sunday morning.
