Quick-thinking tourists drinking outside shop leap away from car hurtling towards them
This is the heart-stopping moment quick-thinking tourists leapt away as a car hurtled towards them in Thailand.
The group of foreigners were drinking outside a shop in Chanthanaburi province near Pattaya when an out-of-control black pickup truck careened towards their table on February 3.
The vehicle crashed into a parked sedan that knocked down the men as they jump out of the way.
Miraculously, they all survived and were taken to the Prapokklao Hospital to be treated for their injuries. None of them were seriously hurt and one of the group was seen climbing to his feet following the collision.
Store owner Samer Chunthongsong, 55, said the group were the last customers for the day when the crash happened.
He said: 'They were enjoying themselves talking and drinking whiskey. Nobody expected a car to crash into them. I think it's a miracle they were not seriously hurt.'
Samer said the accident also damaged sets of tables, chairs, two cars, and two motorcycles nearby.
The unnamed male driver claimed that his right rear tire had exploded and caused him to lose control on the road. He was also taken to the hospital as he was wounded.
Police Captain Sawaros Rattanwarn of the Muang Chanthaburi police said: 'Upon investigation, we found that the car had hit the sidewalk before its tire exploded.'
He added that the driver will be charged with reckless driving causing bodily harm, and damage to public property.
