Carrying the theme 'Sport Tourism', namely sports combined with tourism promotion, Pesisir Selatan Regency held the Regent of the Age 12 Group Cup, between Football Schools, Elementary Schools and Academies throughout Indonesia.

Unmitigated, the football tournament, which was held for the first time in Pesisir Selatan Regency which started from 11 to 12 March 2023, was attended by the Technical Director of PSSI Indra Sjafri who is a native of Pesisir Selatan, as well as the coach of the Indonesian National Team aged 22.

Even though it was raining heavily, it did not reduce the enthusiasm of hundreds of young footballers at the H. Ilyas Jacob Sports Center, Painan, Pesisir Selatan. Coupled with the presence of Indra Syafri who was able to ignite the enthusiasm of the participants in the midst of heavy rain.

"It's not in vain that I came here to witness the Regent's Cup first-hand because at this time Indonesia needs a new generation of football that is of a higher quality," said Indra Syafri after kicking off the match.

According to Indra Syafri, like it or not, Indonesia must look for players at an early age so that quality players can be found. Football is not only about losing, but also educating our children to become whole young people because football also teaches discipline.

"If possible, this event can be used as an annual agenda and create collaboration between the government, the Indonesian National Sports Committee and the All-Indonesia Football Association, to serve as evaluation material," said the U23 National Team coach, Indra Syafri.
